Pro-Mold introduces its first product; The Mini-Snap. This product would later be patented under U.S. patent number 5,224,600. The idea behind this holder was to allow collectors to protect and store the "big money cards" in a set in a standard set storage box along with the rest of the lesser value, common cards in the set. This was the first "hard plastic" holder to fit in the standard set storage box.
Pro-Mold introduces a muliple trading card holder plastic box line starting with a 10 count and 25 count. These plastic boxes would later be patented under U.S. patent number 5,358,114. At the time, the most popular box on the market was a hinged box and the hinges would break very easily. Pro-Mold plastic box design has no breakable hinges, and the Pro-Mold line of plastic boxes have square corners inside to protect the cards corners, unlike the round corners in the hinged box that would ruin the bottom card's corners
Pro-Mold introduces the one screw screwdown trading card holder (U.S. patent 5,522,163). The one screw would go on to be one of the most popular trading card cases ever made with sales peaking at over 4 million units in 1994.
The design of the holder would later be improved on in December 2001, with the addition of arrowhead corners to keep the card's corners from being touched.
With the popularity of Beanie Babies, there was a demand for a Beanie Baby holder. However, given that the Beanie Baby craze was more than likely a fad that would not last very long, the design of the holder was made so that it also could be used as a 400 count box for trading cards.
Pro-Mold Introduces a NFL Mini-Helmet Football holder. What made this mini-football helmet holder unique was it was the first mass produced, plastic injection holder to feature a black base.
Given the popularity of the one screwscrewdown, Pro-Mold took it one step further with a premium series of one screw screwdowns. These screwdowns are the "Cadilac" of the Pro-Mold Product Line and they are a 1/2 inch thick.
With collectors ever increasing demands for even more piece of mind with card holder protection, Pro-Mold redid the original mini-snap and made a new version with arrowhead corners. The arrowhead corners eliminate the possibility of the cards corners ever getting touch, and consquently damaged if the holder is ever dropped.
While Pro-Mold was not the first to use a magnet instead of a screw in this card holder design that Pro-Mold invented over 10 years earlier, Pro-Mold improved on the competition's concept with a stronger, gold magnet. This made it less likely for this holder to pop open when dropped.
The Pro-Mold magnetic trading card holder is the clearest and highest quality holder of its kind today, and it is the ONLY magnetic trading card holder that is produced in the USA. They are also the only magnetic trading card holders certified by an independent lab as UV protectant.
After years and years of requests from vintage card collectors, Pro-Mold finally came out with a line of vintage card holders for the 1950's and before vintage cards.
